Hello, my name is Brian Brown and I have lived in Kamloops for most of my life. As a professional bus driver with tenure of over 18 ½ years… I had the world by the tail. Secure job, benefits, and solid income. However, after many years of deep inner turmoil I came to the realization that my work wasn’t providing the satisfaction that I really wanted. It was difficult to consider leaving all the security that I had built up over the years, but knew that it was time for me to follow a lifelong dream of becoming a finishing carpenter. Needless to say becoming a student at my age was not an easy transition. After so many years of excelling as a professional driver it was not only difficult accepting the fact that I was a rookie all over again, but stressful to return to books. There’s no doubt, being a “mature” student has it’s own substantial challenges and found myself drained and frustrated.
